We lost one of our own...

James J. Lapila, 57, of Plainville, husband of Patricia (Pagliaro), passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Nov. 03, 2013 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain.

Jim was born in New Britain on July 12, 1956, one of two sons of Grace (Galiano) Lapila of Berlin and the latejimlapila James Lapila. A 1974 graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School, he went on to attend Central Connecticut State College, earning his business degree. He and Patty shared 21 years together, bringing into this world their adored twin boys. He had a career in sales for Hartford Distributors for more than 20 years, where he leaves many friends and business associates. A sports enthusiast and classic rock fan, he enjoyed going to concerts, and was happy to see the Red Sox win last week. A devoted son, husband, and father, Jim centered his life around his family, especially his sons, and will be greatly missed, leaving many cherished memories.

In addition to his wife, Patricia, and his mother, he leaves his sons, James and Matthew; his brother, Larry Lapila and his wife, Heidi of Berlin; his nieces and nephews, Anthony, Gina, Louis, Nick, Christie, Eric, Jonny, and Jaclyn; his mother and father-in-law, Joseph and Barbara Pagliaro; his extended Pagliaro family; and his faithful canine companion, Kelly.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 355 Camp St, Bristol. Committal services will follow at West Cemetery, Plainville. Family and friends may gather on Wednesday evening, from 4-7 p.m. at Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St, Plainville. In lieu of flowers, Jim may be remembered with contributions to the James J. Lapila Memorial Fund, to benefit James and Matthew, c/o Webster Bank, 40 Webster Sq., Berlin, CT 06037.
